TitleRevisiting the Elimination of the Adverse Effects of Small Model Features in Automatically Generated Meshes
Year1998
AbstractThis paper is a follow-up to a previous one ("Elimination of the Adverse Effects of Small Model Features by Local Modifications of Automatically Generated Meshes", S. Dey, M.S. Shephard and M. K. Georges, Eng. With Computers, 13(3):134-152, 1997), in which an algorithm to eliminate the adverse effects of small model features at the mesh level was presented. The present paper provides three additions to the original procedure. They are (i) a more efficient implementation in which those features that can be eliminated after surface mesh generation are eliminated before volume meshing, (ii) a method to define an up-dated model topology based on the results of the mesh modifications, and (iii) a demonstration of how this procedure can be used to perform substantial geometric model feature elimination.
