TitleSimulation-Based Design for Automotive Thermal Management
Year2000
AbstractA simulation-based design system for automotive thermal management has been developed. This system fully integrates simulation into the design process by tying simulation attributes to the parametric design geometry and automating all of the simulation process. Automation and reliability are obtained through the use of geometry-based automatic mesh generation, error estimation and mesh adaptivity. The system allows a design engineer to quickly and easily validate the effect of design changes on the performance of the product. A key to the capabilities of the system is that all information is directly associated with the design geometry. A parametric, feature-based representation of the design geometry allows great flexibility in representing various vehicle and component configurations. A brief description of the procedures developed and a demonstration of their application is provided.
