AbstractScalable parallel computers have enabled researchers to apply finite element and finite volume analysis techniques to larger and larger problems. As problem sizes have grown into millions of grid points, the task of meshing models on a serial machine has become a bottleneck for two reasons: (i) it will take too much time to generate meshes and (ii) meshes will not fit in the memory of a single machine.
