Abstract | The statistical analysis of the recovery of boundary traction information in linear elasticity is considered. Specifically, the statistical analysis carried out in [8] is extended to include modelization error. The general approach used here is based on Bayesian statistics and was developed in [1]. Specifically, a Gaussian probability density function is used to describe the forward problem of obtaining internal strains or displacements from a given boundary traction distribution. A method using finite element analysis is proposed for defining the central point and the "spread" (covariance operator) of this Gaussian function. Two numerical examples are presented. |
