TitleForward Modeling for an Inverse Linear Elasticity Problem Using Bayesian Statistics

AbstractThe statistical analysis of the recovery of boundary traction information in linear elasticity is considered. Specifically, the statistical analysis carried out in [8] is extended to include modelization error. The general approach used here is based on Bayesian statistics and was developed in [1]. Specifically, a Gaussian probability density function is used to describe the forward problem of obtaining internal strains or displacements from a given boundary traction distribution. A method using finite element analysis is proposed for defining the central point and the "spread" (covariance operator) of this Gaussian function. Two numerical examples are presented.
