AbstractThis paper deals with some precific issues of parallel mesh representations that arise in providing general tools for use in managing meshes in parallel computations. In recent papers, we have presented a new approach for efficiently managing general parallel mesh representations. The Algorithm Oriented Mesh Database (AOMD) of [11] is meant to deal with general mesh representations and the Parallel AOMD (PAOMD) [10] is a distributed extension to the AOMD concepts. In this paper, we will focus on specific issues related to mesh representations arising from the requirements of dual meshes. Then, we will show how AOMD and PAOMD deal with nonconforming mesh representations.
